#ArchivesInstameet
  • Date: Friday, October 16, 2015
  • Time: 12:45 pm
  • Location: National Archives Building, Washington, DC

The National Archives is known for the history it holds, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. But did you know the outside of the building is just as steeped in democracy and history? Grab your phone and join us for a special Instameet about the architecture of the National Archives!

Historian Jessie Kratz will share stories about the design and hidden symbolism of the 1937 building on the National Mall. Our staff photographers will also be on hand with tips for capturing the beauty of this neoclassical structure designed by John Russell Pope.

In addition to ‘gramming, we’ll enjoy coffee and donuts (and some archives- and architecture-themed giveaways!) courtesy of the National Archives Foundation. We look forward to hosting you as we explore the building President Hoover called “the temple of our history”!

Thank you for your interest in our National Archives Instameet. Registration is now closed.

Follow along on Friday, October 16, at 9 a.m. using #ArchivesInstameet and #TempleOfOurHistory.
