National Archives Foundation Statement on Passing of Long-Time Board Member David Mesker

August 13, 2015

The National Archives Foundation, the non-profit partner of the National Archives and Records Administration, deeply mourns the loss of long-time supporter and Board Member David Mesker. David served on the Foundation Board for more than ten years, including as Chair of its Finance Committee.

“We were so fortunate to have David as a board member. I personally came to rely upon his even temper, good humor and no fuss approach to our annual budget process,” said Foundation board chair A’Lelia Bundles. “I share the sadness of this loss with his loved ones and with my Foundation board colleagues, who have shared that they will always be grateful for his unfailing graciousness, unflappable spirit, keen intelligence and gentlemanly manner.”

David was a St. Louis native who began his career in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps. He split his volunteer time between financial pursuits, including serving on the Boards of the National Association of Securities Dealers, District 4, and the NASDAQ Board, where he served as Chairman in 1978; and non-profit passions, including board service with the St. Louis Repertory Theater, Webster University, Laumeier Sculpture Park, the St. Louis Art Museum, the St. Louis Symphony, the Opera Theater of St. Louis, and the Gateway Foundation.

The family asks that donations be made to Opera Theatre of St. Louis, to Washington University or to the Church of St. Michael and St. George.
