Path Lit by Lightning: The Life of Jim Thorpe
  • Date: Thursday, December 01, 2022
  • Time: 7:00 pm
  • Location: McGowan Theater & Virtual

Jim Thorpe rose to world fame as a monumental talent who excelled at every sport he played. He won gold medals in the decathlon and pentathlon at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, was an All-American football player at the Carlisle Indian School, was the star of the first class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and played major league baseball for John McGraw’s New York Giants. In “Path Lit by Lightning,” author David Maraniss shows that even in a golden age of sports celebrities, Jim Thorpe was one of a kind.

Anita Thorpe, Jim Thorpe’s granddaughter, will be in attendance. A book signing will follow the program.
