Vietnam Photographers: Capturing the War on Film

In partnership with the U.S. Army Center of Military History and in observance of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, a panel of combat photographers who served in Vietnam as part of the Army’s Special Photographic Office will discuss their role and their work. They produced some of the most iconic and important images from the war and captured the soldiers’ experience through swamps and jungles. Panelists include Ted Acheson, Robert LaFoon, William San Hamel, Richard Durrance, and Carl C. Hansen.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibit “Remembering Vietnam” which is presented in part by the Lawrence F. O’Brien Family, Pritzker Military Museum & Library, AARP, FedEx Corporation, and the National Archives Foundation. Additional support provided by the Maris S. All public programs at the National Archives are free and streamed live online via the National Archives’ YouTube channel. Reservations are recommended; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors to the building will open 45 minutes prior to the start of the program.
