The Jewish Justices of the Supreme Court: From Brandeis to Kagan

Author David Dalin will speak about the eight Jewish men and women who have served as justices of the Supreme Court: Louis D. Brandeis, Benjamin Cardozo, Felix Frankfurter, Arthur Goldberg, Abe Fortas, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, and Elena Kagan. Topics include anti-Semitism, the changing role of Jews within the American legal profession, and the justices’ views and judicial opinions. Former Solicitor General Seth Waxman will join the conversation.

This event is presented by the National Archives in partnership with the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington and the Supreme Court Historical Society.

All public programs at the National Archives are free and streamed live online via the National Archives’ YouTube channel. Reservations are recommended; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors to the building will open 45 minutes prior to the start of the program.
