Lincoln’s Gamble: How the Emancipation Proclamation Changed the Course of the Civil War
  • Date: Monday, September 15, 2014
  • Time: 4:00 pm
  • Location: William G. McGowan Theater, Washington, DC

Todd Brewster, author of Lincoln’s Gamble: How the Emancipation Proclamation Changed the Course of the Civil War, offers an authoritative account of the most critical six months in Abraham Lincoln’s Presidency, when he issued the Emancipation Proclamation and changed the course of the Civil War. This was a time when the 16th president fought bitterly with his generals, disappointed his cabinet, and sank into painful bouts of depression, all the while maintaining an unshakable determination to save the country.
