Oscar®-Nominated Film Showcase: What Happened, Miss Simone?

The National Archives hosts the 12th annual free screenings of the Academy Award® nominees in four categories: Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Live Action Short Film, and Animated Short Film.

In addition to being a recording artist and powerful presence at her concerts, singer-songwriter Nina Simone was a civil rights activist. With Simone’s determination to live a life of honesty in which her music and politics were paramount, her relationships with her family, friends and collaborators were complicated and frequently difficult.

The screenings are presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in partnership with the National Archives.

All public programs at the National Archives are free. Reservations are recommended; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
